High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps utilize xenon gas light sources, a ballast and igniter for each lamp. A high voltage charge from the igniter causes an arc to light between the electrodes of the light source. The ‘white’ light that is produced provides better illumination for all weather driving, enabling the driver to see more clearly.

This is the same lighting technology utilized in new Mercedes, Lexus, BMW and Audi automobiles.

A question we receive often. Many of the aftermarket kits out there require some re-wiring. Our kits require no re-wiring assemblies or custom set-ups. As long as you have access to remove and replace the original bulb assembly, then you are good to go. As close to plug-n-play as you can get.

In many countries the United States Standard of 9004, 9006, 9007 are referred to as HB1, HB4 and HB5 respectively. We have not encountered fitment problems using the simply conversion chart below.

9004 = HB1

9006 = HB4

9007 = HB5

One of the great benefits of HID - Xenon gas based light technology is the lower power consumption. In most every case they draw less power (current) than your factory basic bulbs. Our HID kits typically draw about 33-35 watts per light, yet create about 150 watts of light power in a spectrum that is great for driving. No more burned out wiring harnesses with these low power consumption lights.

Traditional Halogen or factory headlights use a traditional tungsten filament for lighting. It is this filament which through time evaporates and eventually continuity is lost and the light fails. Filament based lighting is aggressive on the wear of the filament simply due to the nature of the physics involved in the lighting and last considerably shorter than HID Xenon based technology.

Reports from the OEM's indicate a 300%+ longer lifetime using HID technology. Since there is no filament in useage the component lasts much longer. Also, since there is no filament, these are more durable for off-road useage as well.

Our HID All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) kits are used in the extreme deserts of Arizona, California and Nevada in competition environments with great success.

In general if you can change your factory bulbs and read simply instructions, then you can install this kit. On some vehicles, like the Ford Super Duty Series, it is simply difficult to get to the drivers side bulb and requires more time. On a car like the 1994 Toyota Supra, you can expect to be completed in 60 minutes or less!

For those less inclined on installations, most any local shop can install these for you very easily and cost effectively.

In a nutshell, absolutely!!

According to the school of engineering at USC in a published article, they wrote, "Driving under poorly lit conditions is very dangerous when compared to driving in the daytime. In the United States, no less than 60% of all traffic accidents take place in poorly lit conditions (Philips Automotive News). According to 1994 information from the Federal Office of Statistics in Germany, although only about one-third of total accidents in that country occurred at dusk or in the dark, the number of persons seriously injured increased by 50 percent, and the number of deaths by 136 percent (Automotive Engineering)."

The increase in illumination that is necessary to quickly notice dangers in the road is not limited to the area directly ahead of the car. Peripheral vision is greatly enhanced with Xenon HID, as the headlights sweep out about five feet farther to the left and five feet farther to the right, in comparison with standard halogens. The intensity of Xenon HID’s peripheral lighting experiences less fade at the edges and produces greater brightness in the center.

Using HID - xenon gas based lighting systems dramatically increases road safety at night. There is a shocking difference in lighting performance and safety.

From the engineering school at USC in their published article, they state the following:

From an opinion survey performed by the reputable EMNID research organization in Bielefeld, Germany, Xenon HID light was shown to be considered highly important and useful: 85% of all drivers who drove with Xenon HID lights could see better in the dark than they used to; 75% of drivers who used Xenon HID stated that the broad swath of roadway which these lamps illuminate created greater safety for cyclists and pedestrians, whom the driver could recognize at an earlier stage than with conventional headlamps; 80% of respondents could see better with Xenon HID than with halogen when driving in the rain.

The advantages of Xenon HID have made owners of cars with this lighting system fond of it. Therefore it is not a surprise that 83% of drivers surveyed would order Xenon HID on their next cars. Xenon HID is a lighting system that makes driving at night safer for the driver as well as pedestrians, produces light that’s closer to natural sunlight, reflects road signs and markers more effectively, reduces driver fatigue and eye strain, and cleans and aligns itself. Highly advanced and the most efficient source of light for automobiles today, Xenon HID is the lighting system of the future. The investment made now may pay for itself back tenfold in the future with the prevention of an accident.

Protect the quartz arc tube (bulb) when handling the lamp. Keep the arc lamp clean. Do not touch the quartz tube, the inside surface of the reflector, and the connecting wires. Contamination can degrade lamp performance or cause premature failures. If necessary, clean the lamp by wiping with a lint free towel or swab immersed in denatured alcohol.

Great question! Our HID kits draw only 37 watts per assembly, so most any 1990 or newer 4-Stroke ATV will more than sufficient capacity for a pair of our HID lights. In fact some quads like the Raptor can run as many as three (3) HID lights without any issues. No stator or charging system upgrades are required.

Unfortunately most all 2-stroke ATV's do not come with a battery based system and cannot be used with our HID kits. However, if you have a battery conversion kit on your Banshee or other 2-stroke then you can run our light kit without any problems!!

Most motorcycles can be retro-fitted to run our HID kits without any problems whatsoever. Typically just a small modification to the light housing is required and then you are up and running. We have kits installed from Harleys to Yamaha R1's. As long as you have a battery based system, you are good to go.
